The PDs was a baffling choice in the respect that ideologically they are very pro-authority. “It is not for the little people to question”, an inevitable feature of the PD’s tilt towards the right. It was exactly this kind of deference that allowed children to be abused by those in authority for so long (and allowed others to cover it up). While nobody expects Mr. O’Gorman to be a one-dimensional one-issue person surely he saw enough of the corrupting effect of unnecessary defefence to recognise it as a negative and avoid at all costs a party with too much respect for the powerful and little regard for the powerless.

Which is presumably why he talked with the Labour Party before he approached the PDs.

put the party he did join is the one at the for front of calling for the church to be removed from schools.

the only other party that has been close to this has been Labour. Who is to say that He doesn’t favour Low taxes, privitisation etc surely you would allow him to have political beliefs outside child abuse.

I find it strange that he chose to join one of the parties in a government that has gone out of its way to protect the organisations responsible for child abuse, (and subsequent cover-ups), from the consequences of their actions.
