So often quotes and dramatic statements are splashed across the covers of tabloids and celebrity magazines, while the stories inside prove to be far removed from the truth or any resemblance of anything interesting. Now I am not accusing the New York Times of such practices but I cautiously read this story not expecting the following head line to amount to much
Corpse Wheeled to Check-Cashing Store Leads to 2 Arrests
However the headline tells it as it is, relaying the facts of two elderly men who using an office chair wheeled their recently deceased room mate to a cheque cashing store in order to cash in his social security cheque. The plan seems to have been to leave the corpse sitting upright outside the store, somehow thinking the cashier would willingly hand over the cash to them. Unfortunately the passers by on the street outside and eventually the authorities were alerted to this strange scene and both men were arrested. What thought process coud lead to deciding this was a good idea and all for a meagre $300. Read the story here.
