Now in one instance Tuesday the 5th is looking like the day I will get to see ‘Cloverfield’ so that in of itself makes that day super. Of course perhaps more newsworthy is 22 States turn out to cast their votes in the US primaries - the time for discussions of momentum and symbolic wins is over. Between Caroline Kennedy’s New York Times Op ed yesterday entitled “A President Like My Father,” to Teddy Kennedy’s JFK-like declaration that it is time for “a new generation” of leadership, to the staging of the event at American University, where JFK gave a famous speech on world peace, to Obama’s own repeated use of the word “torch” and his biographical link to a young JFK, you could hardly imagine a better couple of days for the Obama campaign than these have been. The Wall Street Journal aptly points out though that the numbers will trump any level of image agrandisement and sets out clearly that the Clinton camp can look comfortably upon the demographics of many of the States, their electorates being comprised of Latino and women voters. The Journal article is nicely comprehensive and worth a read. In making any statements as to advantage it also cautiously reminds us of the tough time pollsters have been having in making predictions, pointing out their figures were more inaccurate in Saturdays South Carolina primary than the much covered New Hampshire primary. Now a friend of mine has reprimanded me for neglecting the Republican race and with their attention focused on Florida, and Giulani’s relying so much the State to mark a clear stake in this election I will turn my commentary to the GOP in the coming days.
