So I don’t decide lightly to knock an Eagles song but the fact is this song ‘New York Minute’ captures so much in its chorus, yet labours along endlessly in a rhythmless drone for the remainder of the song. I chose to seek it out when it played out over the closing of an episode of ’The West Wing’, though I will admit to first becoming aware of the song when Marcel the monkey awoke from surgery having eating Scrabble pieces in an episode of ‘Friends’. God knows there are worse songs, immeasurably worse, I just expected a more well rounded, impacting song to match the perfect swell into the chorus, tailor made for so many moments.
