Never one to pass up a coy pun on a movie title there is much suggestion we’ve been romancing the wrong stone today as an archaeologist has claimed we are in fact kissing a stone only in use since 1888, the original stone presenting a health and safety risk as it involved dangling people of the building by their ankles. The Castle of course deny the story, however having been up there a few times with visitors from the States and based on their nervousness at kissing the stone in its current position, it would have been a good commercial decision to move it from anywhere less precarious.
