One of the most charming programmes on TV at the moment, ‘Pushing Daisies‘ makes its debut on UK TV tonight. The premise is intriguing - a man, Ned, with the gift of offering a minute of life to the deceased, but importantly only a minute as otherwise there can be dire consequences. These rules and consequences bear heavily on Ned’s love life and personality. The show is a mish mash of fantastic Burtonesque style and old school charm. While the events of the show find Ned and his Scooby gang investigating a murder a week there is never any more threat than an episode of Murder She Wrote, but the quirkiness and mix of odd ball characters makes it a pleasure to watch. Humour, black and witty is rampant and the look of the show is unique amongst TV shows at the moment. There is a consistent lack of terrestial viewing quality to fill those weeks where TV is a much distraction as you want – ‘Pushing Daisies’ will change that. Only complaint - why on a Saturday night though? Among the cast you may recognise British actress Anna Friel and Kristin Chenowith formerly of ‘The West Wing‘. Tonight (Saturday), 9pm, UTV)

Nice review - I was only saying this morning that with Scrubs and Battlestar Galactica soon to come to an end there didn’t seem to be much in the pipeline to fill the void. I will definitely give this a look.
