* The predominance of blogging for communicating and the broader internet as a tool for doing so much is undeniable. Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer, in an intrview with the Washington Post has gone as far as saying:
“In the next 10 years, the whole world of media, communications and advertising are going to be turned upside down” and there will be “no media consumption left in 10 years that is not delivered over an IP network.”
An eerie aspect to this is the story of how a 25 year old man arrested for killing seven people in a knife rampage on a crowded Tokyo shopping street posted dozens of warning messages on the Internet in the hours leading up to the attack. The unpoliced, ungoverned internet, a place where you can find any point of view to support your own and outlets to appease any lifestyles, is a worrying place to offer warnings of such plans.
* From one extreme to the other, Cindy McCains recipe section on her husbands website. The site was the focus of a tea cup sized storm of late as it was revealed some of the recipes were plagarised from the Food Network website. An intern was of course blamed. McCain Family Recipes still unapolgetically emblazon the page.
* I’ve been wondering who the hell Libertas are, and why the whole idea of a business man being behind the venture unsettles me a little. Here is the link to their website to begin your own investigations and a discussion thread on the group on politics.ie
* I saw ‘Gone Baby, Gone’ over the weekend, and on having read the Empire review, I surmised there was essentially nothing I could achieve by writing my own as I agreed with their measured praise. The point stands, the good buzz you’ve been hearing is deserved, and the movie is worth your viewing consideration in this breather before ‘The Hulk’ and ‘Hancock’.
* Somehow the natural lead on from this is a quote from Stewie in a mediocre episode of ‘Family Guy’ last night:
‘So I’m shavin’ last night at this makeout party. I took a bunch of pictures. You can see ‘em on my MySpace page, along with my favorite songs and movies and things that other people have created but that I use to express my individualism. ‘
* Finally, I told Simon a while back I would post this clip, but forgot. Its Guns n Roses doing Live and Let Die, it didnt qualify for our alternative Bond Theme Top 6 Friday, but does qualify for the awesome song deserving a post category. This is the best clip that I could embed from Youtube, maybe visit the site to view a better quality version.
