‘Who Watches the Watchmen’

It’s an insidious game, this comic book adaptation lark. Zack Snyder, the man behind ‘300′ has taken on the difficult task (one abandoned by the likes of Paul Greengrass and Terry Gilliam) of adapting ‘Watchmen’ for the screen. I’ve written before on my impression of ‘Watchmen’, I picked it up because of news of the beginning of the movies production and the fact it is revered as as one of, if not the, greatest graphic novel of all time. The fanbase is well, fanatical, the content is complex, the characters are multi dimensional and flawed, making those of Gotham city look like functioning members of society and the story is distinctly adult - how all of this bodes for the final outcome of the movie remains to be seen. Our first taster is the trailer posted below, and the interesting thing is that while it focuses on the dramatic set pieces, these stunts matter little in the context of the comic - they all play second fiddle to the human events. Take from that what you will. I am still undecided as to whether I like the look of this or not.
Not released until June of next year, this will be big.
