Will Smith for Best Actor in a Leading Role, Seven Pounds
So Will Smith recently remarked how he didn’t feel ready for the Oscar when nominated for ‘Ali’. He added however, he felt ready when it came to the ‘Pursuit of Happyness’. Smith must be hoping for repeated glory, and maybe even Oscar glory, as he re - teams with ‘Pursuit’ director Gabriele Muccino for ‘Seven Pounds’. The film tells of a disillusioned, depressed IRS agent who sets about undoing past mistakes by seeking to improve the lives of seven people. A blind musician (Woody Harrelson) and a love interest with a heart condition (Rosario Dawson), the movie seems tailor designed for trophy baiting. Also, Tom Cruises and Nicole Kidman’s adopted son Connor makes his screen debut.

So are you just going to predict everybody to ensure you get the kudos come February?

Well Tuathal, there are 24 award categories and a minimum of 3 nominees for each category, and in the few posts I have done I have not even convered the standard major awards. Some of these movies may not even be mentioned within earshot of Oscar come the nominations, which are actually announced in January, however as we like to make a fuss of the Oscars here at the blog and also like to spread the word on upcoming movies we thought it a good format to discuss them through.
