An incident wherby an armed robber was chased by security and members of the public following a botched robbery in Killester, Dublin yesterday is relayed here in the Irish Examiner. The robber was stabbed 5 times and beaten with a metal bar and subsequently died in hospital.
Local resident and Fine Gael Dublin City Councillor Gerry Breen said the incident was “a terrible thing” and said members of staff and the public involved in the confrontation with the raider may have acted out of adrenaline and fear.
“I am not trying to justify it, but adrenaline is a funny thing,” he said. “If the crime was not perpetrated [in the first place] there would be no fatality now.”
Adrenaline? - what sort of appeasing bull is such a statement. Our public officials should reprimand the public for acting in such a way. Adrenaline and fear - more like mob savagery.
