Tasty Lunch

I’ve sung the praises of Taco,Taco before as my favourite place for lunch. I’m going through a particularly frugal period at the moment (hardly unique I know) but on getting paid today I decided to treat myself to a trip to Taco, Taco based in the Epicurean Food Hall on Abbey Street in Dublin. Efficient, friendly and tasty Mexican food, its always reliable. I had been reading through cheapeats.ie and a commenter was looking for Chipotle Peppers in Adobo. Chipotle peppers are smoked jalapeno peppers and adobo sauce is a combination of tomato sauce, garlic and spices in which the chipotle is stored. I should probably go back and tell them as speculated in the post that the Epicurean does indeed stock the peppers, what became my priority however was going to the Epicurean for lunch and having their Chicken and Chipotle Pepper Quesadilla.

This might be one of the great snacks (please note the picture is googled – the snack comes served on a paper plate, this is a food hall after all) – a crispy tortilla with a filling of chicken, melted cheese and a slathering of chipotle peppers. Chipotle peppers are wonderfully hot, they were jalapeno peppers of course in a former life, their smokiness creates a wonderful new dimenion. The heat and smoked flavour linger in the back of your throat and the snack is made deeply satisfying by the richness of the sauce. Chipotle in adobo is an excellent example of of the benfit that be added to your food by some heat, especially to those sceptical of spiciness. At €5.55 this is not an everyday purchase, however that is not to say Taco, Taco is not good value generally. A dam tasty lunch, good enough to post about!
