Fantasy Premier League. October 31

So this is going to be a new feature on the Dossing Times Fantasy advice for all you players of Fantasy Premier League and Fantasy NFL. Today I am going to deal with Fantasy Premier Football. It is Friday the day when most people are setting their lineups instead of working so here is a few tips. This is mostly based on the Premier Leagues own game. Just for my own credentials 2 years ago I came 20th over all. Alas since then not as good. Last year I blamed not paying that much attention to the league. Not making weekly changes etc. This year well it is early yet.

One of the most important things to consider this week is the schedule

  • Arsenal v Tottenham
  • Bolton v Chelsea
  • Burnley v Hull City
  • Everton v Aston Villa
  • Fulham v Liverpool
  • Portsmouth v Wigan
  • Stoke City v Wolves
  • Sunderland v West Ham
  • Man Utd v Blackburn
  • Birmingham v Man City
  • West Ham v Aston Villa

As can be seen both West Ham and Aston villa play twice thus players for these teams will get more starting points then the other teams. They will also have two bits of the cherry to score. Thus if you can get some Hammers or Villains into your starting line ups do. First lets look at the matchups.

Everton v Aston Villa

Sunderland v West Ham

West Ham v Aston Villa

First Up Everton. Everton’s home form has been average at best 2 wins 2 loses and a draw. last week they lost 3-2 to Bolton. Week before at home 1-1 at Wolves. And week before that 1-1 at Stoke. We have to go back 3 weeks to find a game that Everton won 1-0 away to bottom of the table Portsmouth that was only the second clean sheet they kept this season. The other one to Blackburn in September. So I can see goals in this for Aston Villa. Likewise Everton have only failed to score once this season against Burnley back in August. This suggests that this game is going to have goals for both sides.

Sunderland. Are a surprise package this year. With Darren Bent finding his scoring boots he lost in White Hart lane. Sunderland have only failed to Score once this season vs Stoke back in August. Sunderland have only managed to keep 2 clean sheets this year. One for backup Fulop in the season opener vs Bolton and one for Gordon in the infamous Red Ball game vs Liverpool.

What these two games suggest to me is that neither of these two games are going to result in clean sheets for either Aston Villa or West Ham. Aston Villa have the best defence in the premier league so if anyone is going to keep Everton goaless it is going to be Villa.

The West Ham vs Aston Villa is a battle of the off purple teams. Villa are pushing on to the champions league spots, West Ham are already fighting for survival. While it is a home game for West Ham I can’t see them pushing on and getting a win.  They have conceded 9 goals at home (average 2.25) which is the joint highest . Villa have conceded 4 away from home or average 1 per game.

So recommendations for the weekend buy West Ham and Villa Players.

Gaberial Agbonlahor 8.4million. If a Villa Striker is going to score it is going to be him. Scored in 5 games out of 9. So great chance of getting a goal in one of these games if not both.

James Collins 4.9million. While Richard Dunne has been getting the headlines for this villa team with 2 goals Collins with 1 goal has been quietly doing his own thing. In the last 3 games he has raked up 4 bonus points. While Dunne has raked in 6 in the last 3 games Dunne is 0.8 million more expensive. Remember a clean sheet for 1 defender is a clean sheet for all.

Carlton Cole 6.8 million. If West Ham are going to score it is going to be through this guy. Many peoples outside tip to partner Rooney in South Africa. He is going to be fired up for the rest of the season. With 4 Goals in the last 5 games he has a chance to put a smile on your face.

Young A 8.3 Million. Ashley young has not been preforming well this year and being outshune by James Milner. But Young is the set piece taker for Aston Villa and this is the source of many of the goals for Aston Villa. With two games to swing balls into the box of Porous defences. Expect an assist or two for him.

Cheap hits. You need to get a cheap player in to release some cash.

Goalkeeper Thomas Sorensen 4.3 Million. Home to Wolves. Stoke Defence Not bad. Wolves attack not great. Sorensen is a good keeper
Defender Steven Jordan 4 million Burnley play Hull. Hull Crap and in Turmoil. Plays every game.
Midfield Andy Reid 5.6 million. Gets Assists Sunderland playing West Ham.
Forward.  James Beattie 5.7 million Playing Wolves. 10 away goals conceded in 4 games. Beattie 2 goals in 3 starts.

    I like the new look!!

Now get cracking on the NFL :)

  • I guess it had to come sooner or later for Everton in their case it was the latter. Wasn’t it September last time they won a league game. We know they have numerous players injured at the moment and then the sloppy play by Tony Hibbert to give West Ham a goal could really have meant a different outcome today. Both teams weren’t that great if I’m honest and West Ham had their chances to turn it around with Zavon but the absence of the injured Cole definitely showed. Half way through the second half I think the tempo changed for both sides thankfully and if anything Everton’s second goal altered the mood of the hammers and they were unlucky to get a equalizer, even more so with the visitors messy defending at times. Everton must be buzzin with the away result and good on ‘em.
