Set aside the opinion you may have formed of Christian Bales behaviour and relish the prospect of him co-starring with Johnny Depp in a depression era tale of John Dillinger, directed by Michael Mann (‘Heat’, ‘Collateral’, ‘Ali’). While Depp may have given brilliant life to the characters of Sweeney Todd and Capt. Jack Sparrow, its a pleasure here to seem him not need to glare his eyes and ham it up and still mould what looks like a great performance.
