Dick Cheney puts what I can only call an ‘ugly’ spin on this milestone in describing the US army as an all volunteer force, heralding Bush as the person carrying the biggest burden in the midst of this disaster. No word of course of the civilian cost to the people of Iraq. Read more here.

The Galway Advertiser tells us of the latest protest by the Galway Alliance against War.
The statue of Galway’s 1916 Rising leader Liam Mellows is to be clad in the notorious orange boiler suit worn by prisoners in Guantanamo Bay, as a protest against the US army’s use of Shannon Airport.
